Preschool, Sunday School Thanksgiving Craft Ideas
Making Thanksgiving crafts is a great way to bring your preschool Sunday school class together and teach the values that Thanksgiving stands for. You can choose to make beautiful color pages to display on the wall, or make pilgrims from tissue paper rolls. There are tons of fun crafts available. Consider that any project you choose for a preschool class should not include small parts or require sharp objects. There are many categories of Thanksgiving crafts as well. You can choose from decorations for the wall or window, table decorations, or just crafts to display throughout the house.
If you want to focus on table decorations, you might use place setting cards, napkin rings, or even place mats. You could choose to make a different craft each week so students would have a complete setting by the big day. Some great crafts used in years past were the photo napkin ring and the turkey place mat. These items can be laminated and saved as keepsakes or used for a few years. It is always fun to pull out crafts from years back and show kids what they did.
Another fun idea is to make a life size Pilgrim. Let the children trace themselves on paper and then decorate the cutout with construction paper to be Indians or Pilgrims. You can make hats, clothes, belts, and even moccasins out of different color construction paper for a true Thanksgiving effect. Make a whole village on the wall for decoration with the children's look alike. Include a tee pee and you have a mural of Thanksgiving fun.
Turkey crafts are probably the most popular, for this holiday season. There are turkeys made from paper plate, leaves, and even toilet paper rolls. You can use leaves to make the feathers of this fun animal or use multicolor feathers you can find at the local craft store. One fun craft idea is to use children's hands for a cut out template. In this fun craft, you can trace and cut out the child's hand to use as the turkey body, draw in eyes, and add feet to make the turkey complete.
There are many other fun crafts for kids to enjoy as well. Consider making a Thanksgiving wreath for the front door. You can use a paper plate and cover it with leaves; real or fake it does not matter. Or make a pretty tissue box for the bathroom covered in colored thanksgiving pictures.
Search the Internet or crafts books, and you are sure to find fun for children for all ages. There are even books to buy that list hundreds of fun Sunday school Thanksgiving crafts. Whichever craft you choose, you are sure to have fun and find plenty to be thankful for.

Teen Sex - Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid - Teaching Sex in School
Did your heart just start beating faster? Even the term "sex" or "family life education" brings panic, fear, and increases the heartbeat and sweat glands in most adults. However, once the panic subsides, the debate over whether to have sex education in American schools or not - is done. A new poll finds that over 90% of Americans say sex education should be taught in schools.
According to the poll, the surveyed parents supported teaching 7th and 8th graders basic information on how babies are made, and 56 percent supported teaching all aspects of sex education, including birth control and safer sex in 7th and 8th grade, with a much higher percentage agreeing it should be taught in High School.
On the other hand, exactly who IS getting taught about sex? Unfortunately, the nationwide trend is that fewer young people are learning how to reduce the risk of getting a disease and preventing pregnancy. "The majority of school systems now focus on delaying sexual education as long as possible," said Barbara Huberman, the director of education for Advocates for Youth, a pro-education group in Washington, D.C. "While you may get an overview of contraception in the seventh or eighth grade, there are many, many school systems that are afraid to talk about it at all."
I am a School Nurse at a Middle School in a suburb of a large city. They teach about "abstinence" in a brief session. Then, on a daily basis, I get to deal with the student's choices and mistakes. I hear stories that make me want to cry. I hear parents frequently say, "my daughter/son would never do that", or "I don't think (insert child's name here) would ever have sex". The all seem horrified at the thought. But, what I see and hear on consistently (and remember, this is middle school) tells a different story. Just so you don't think my school is unusual, I read articles and stories from nurses all over the country that say the same thing.
I have girls coming to me fearing pregnancy (and some really are pregnant). Some of these same girls have had multiple partners (yes, they are only 12-14 years old and yes, some are a mandatory CPS/Law Enforcement call). Amazingly, these same girls will say statements like, "I know that you can get pregnant through oral sex, but I try to be careful". They ARE too young to be having sex, but it is happening - and not infrequently. We may have grown up in a different time, and want to believe it can't happen in our own home, but let me give you some hard statistics:
The average girl today begins to develop some characteristics of puberty between ages 10 and 11, with many showing some changes at ages eight or nine.
One in 12 students experience their first sexual intercourse before age 13, and a quarter of all children (24 percent of girls and 27 percent of boys) have had sex by age 15, and many believe these estimates to be low. Remember, these numbers do not include the "everything but intercourse" in them. Each year, one in four sexually active teens contracts a sexually transmitted disease. Genital herpes (which cannot be cured) has increased by almost 30% in young people in the last 9 years. There are over 900,000 teen pregnancies per year. When it comes to HIV, the largest increase in cases is seen in teenagers. These statistics are frightening.
Ideally, parents should give strong teaching to their kids about honesty, integrity, self-value, and abstinence for the first 10 to 12 years of life. If they did a really good job of this, and taught their children to make good decisions, we wouldn't be having this epidemic and being forced to have as many conversations with 14, 15 and 16 years old about what to do about an unplanned pregnancy or a STD.
Which leads to why this should be taught in the school - parents would be the ideal choice to teach this to children. That would be assuming you have parents who are willing to do so. But, a majority of parents don't know how to talk to their kids about sex and sexually transmitted diseases. The other part of that equation is that many families today are very dysfunctional - some parents abuse alcohol, drugs, work too many hours, have high stress or anxiety, or have various other reasons for not having the ability to talk with their children. That leaves the "job" of teaching kids about sex and STD's to the educational system.
Although this is an uncomfortable subject, it IS an important one. I am a strong believer in abstinence. If it were up to me, everyone would abstain until marriage. However, I am a realist as well. We cannot bury our heads in the sand and hope teen sex goes away. Teens are "doing it", getting pregnant, and catching diseases. They need education and support and we need to guide them. It is our job as educators and adults to keep them safe. Please start early talking to your kids and have a good relationship with them about everything. They are the most important "assets" you have. Also, talk to your school Administrators about how you can support the family life education and be involved. Let's try to put a dent in this sad epidemic.

Then I went to ISPO in Munich which is the winter ports trade show, Skye Darden from line skis runs us through the Seth Morrison Pro Model Boot, The pollard pro model, the after bang and the anthem skis. there was some sick skating at the volcom stand and they gave me a sweet harmonica which will keep me company while im filming. The day after ispo i hit up Waidring in Austria with Flo Hasenauer and David Englhardt as they had their first day back in the park for 2009. Painting a Camo Wall Will Enhance Camouflage Bedroom Decorating
There are a couple of different ways to decorate a bedroom with camouflage. One of them is to paint the walls either a light color or camo green and then purchase camouflage bedding, drapes, and accessories. The other way is to paint at least one wall of the room in camo. By choosing the various paint colors in your favorite camouflage pattern, you'll be able to recreate the design on the wall. In fact, the process is so simple that your son will be able to participate in painting some of the design with you. If you don't feel confident about painting camo on the wall, there are still a lot of ways to achieve the look.
The project of painting camouflage on your wall starts with you drawing the fluid shapes like the pattern on the wall with a pencil. Study the actual fabric you're basing the wall on to see where you want to put the different colors. You can either begin by painting a dot of the colors you want to use on each shape, or you can decide as you go along. Make sure that you create a good mix of lights and darks, because that's what makes camouflage effective. To get some ideas about how to paint your wall, you will be able to find pictures online of the walls other people have created. A well-done wall will look super cool.
You will want to purchase artist's brushes to complete your design. You need to be able to achieve smooth, crisp lines between the colors, and you can't do that with a big old paintbrush. After all, you aren't really just painting a wall here; you're creating a mural. With this type of a wall decor, you don't want to overdo. In most rooms, one wall will be plenty. You will then want to choose one of the colors you used in your camouflage to paint the other walls.
If you want to add more items to the room, take a look at some of the camouflaged furniture that you'll find online. It's unbelievable the number of different pieces you can get. Beds, dressers, night stands, mirrors, and computer desks sporting a camouflage design are all for sale. You can even get bedding to match the furniture and an army tent canopy to go over the bed. By using camouflage bedroom décor you can create the perfect environment for your little corporal to play with his army of little plastic men.

Motocross / Wakeboarding / Skateboarding / Pit Bike Racing / The 2010 Baja Brawl: The Event Pat Grzebinski of Baja Acres and Baja MX put on the 9th Annual Baja Brawl North American Amateur National September 3rd - 6th, 2010. The weekend starts out with motocross practice on Friday on the famed Baja MX track. Immediately following the practice is the World Goon Ride Championships with defending champion Scott Thomason and rival Nate Trager battling to be No. 1 Loser. Honorable mentions go to Jacob Grzebinski with his crazy wheelies and fender slaps as well as David Bacon and his no footed whoop-attack. National caliber amatuer racers showed up from all across the US to compete against eachother throughout the 3-moto format, starting on Saturday. Racers like Daniel Herrlein of Ohio, Joey Crown of Michigan, and Jack Rogers of Maryland. Saturday nights activities included the Pit Bike World Championships with Derek Rose, Allen Jones, Chas Legue, Nick Beatty and more. Alongside the Pit Bike races, DJ CORA and Qwes Kross of 5050 Konvict Records got the party started with the FIST PUMP PARTY. Everybody was going off, including a solid amount of awesome Volcom swag. Mandingo Pickles was representin as well. Sunday had more motocross racing and the debut of the Otsego Club Pond Palooza. What is Covered by La-Z-Boy's Limited Lifetime Warranty
The Lazy Boy recliner limited warranty is one of the best in the furniture industry and includes lifetime warranty for several of their products' mechanical parts - including reclining mechanisms, sleep sofa mechanisms, springs and spring systems, swivel base and wood frame parts. Remember, the lifetime warranty applies to the parts only and labor costs are usually only covered for a year.
Only the person who originally purchased the lazy boy recliner from an authorized dealer is covered by the limited lifetime warranty. If you bought your recliner second hand then the warranty cannot be transferred. You should ensure that you are buying your recliner from an authorized dealer if you want to take advantage of the warranty. Some dealers may also offer an extended warranties from companies like Wear Dated, DuPont or StainSafe.
The warranty is also limited to material and manufacturing defects that occur under normal indoor residential use. The warranty does not cover furniture used for rental, commercial, institutional or other non-residential use. If the furniture shows any signs of abnormal use, excessive soiling, improper cleaning or treatment then your warranty is void.
Most warranty claims require that the furniture first be inspected by Lazy Boy to ensure that the repairs are covered by the warranty. You will be responsible for paying any in-home inspection fees, the cost to ship the furniture to and from the dealer and the cost to ship the furniture to and from the Lazy Boy factory. Most repairs do not require the furniture to be returned to the factory. You will also have to pay any labor costs if the repairs are required after the expiry of the labor coverage period in the warranty (usually one year from the date of purchase).
Not all parts have a lifetime warranty. The Genesis reclining mechanism found in the Lazy Boy Tulsa Recliner has a ten year warranty, and the sleep sofa mechanism on the Signature Select models have a five year warranty. Fabric and leather is usually covered for one year for manufacturing and material defects only and other materials have warranties ranging from one to ten years.
The warranty is for the repair, replacement or substitution of the defective part and it is Lazy Boy's sole discretion which option they will select. The warranty does not provide for any refund of the purchase price. Items purchased "as is" or as clearance items from authorized dealers are not covered by the Lazy Boy Limited Lifetime Warranty, so make sure you check first before you buy.
To make a claim under the warranty you should contact the authorized dealer where you purchased your Lazy Boy recliner. However, if that dealer is no longer available then you can contact another authorized dealer as long as you still have your original proof of purchase. If you feel that your dealer has not honored the warranty then you can write directly to La-Z-Boy Incorporated's Consumer Services.

VOLCOM MOD-TECH 2010 IN BRAZIL! 15/04/2010 ShareThis Brazil usually sounds crazy to party and weak for waves. Atlantic Island of Noronha stands as the country's exception to the rule. Landed on the island for a surf contest and a Mod-tech 2010 boardshorts photoshoot, Gony and Joan did not know what to expect. Well, the Party did not move much, but waves were definitely powerfull and fun considering their size. To top it all off, water temperatures and the color looked more like a Tahitian reef pass than a Rio do janeiro beach break. Over there things are pretty simple and options are clear: the only car you could rent is a buggy, there is one road, couple restaurants, and two main spots. At low tide we would go to "the dog beach" and any other tide to Cacimba, the beach with two stones popping out of the sea which create a nice wedge to launch airs. The boys really enjoyed the whole Brazialian experience and got the job done! Check it out.

7 Sure-Fire Tips For Potty Training Toddlers
There seems to be a widely held impression, past down from generation to generation, that potty training toddlers is arduous.
Follow this practical plan and you will be able to go from all those diapers to dry in days. But only if you are prepared not to be side-tracked by other distractions during this period and able to give your focus to toilet training.
1. Evaluating Your Child's Readiness
Does your toddler have the required verbal understanding? This includes being able to understand and carry out simple instructions.
Does your toddler show signs of wanting to do more things for themselves such as pulling up their own pants?
Is your child's bladder and bowel control adequately developed? For instance, can he or she go for two or three hours before wetting their diaper?
You really must not go on to item 2 until you are confident your toddler can handle being toilet trained.
2. Let's Go Shopping
You want to make this trip to the shops as much fun as possible for your toddler. So what's on that shopping list?
You should get:
An anatomically correct doll (a boy doll if you have a son, a girl doll if you have a daughter); Potties (yes it's best to have two or three around the home so there is always one close at hand when it's wanted); Underpants, preferably vibrantly colored. It's even better if there's a picture of one of their favorite cartoon characters on them. Diaper or training underpants can be a practical solution for any trips out but make sure you treat them as real pants not diapers; a wall chart and stickers.
Remember to let your toddler have a say in the purchase choice.
3. Toilet Train The Doll
Silly as it may seem, you potty train the doll. The doll is a great teaching tool, it should not be seen as a toy. You will be using the doll to model correct behavior.
4. Celebrate The Doll's Success
Each time the doll correctly uses the potty it is praised and a sticker is placed on the wall chart that records the doll's progress. And when the doll has been potty trained it gets a party.
You want your toddler to realize that being potty trained is a happy, fun experience.
5. It's Farewell to Diapers
Put your toddler in pants. There's no retreating back to diapers even if there are two or three accidents along the way.
6. Give Your Toddler Plenty Of Fluids
The more your toddler drinks the more they will need to urinate. So they should get plenty of practice in using a potty.
7. Ask Your Toddler If They Need the Potty
If they say no that's fine. With all those drinks they'll soon need to go. Quiz them again a little later.
If they have a little accident you must not let your child see you are angry or disappointed. Just tell them they'll do better next time. Take them to the potty and have them sit on it for two or three minutes. Give them fresh pants to put on. At short intervals take them back to the potty for a total of ten times. This will help to build muscle memory. Very soon they will urinate in the potty.
A little food for thought. It is not just what you say, it's how you say it. This is certainly true when it comes to teaching a toddler new skills.

Just to tell you, this is about Josh Hutcherson and my bestfriend! Josh was sitting across, his eyes glued on his newest girlfriend. How could I have been friends with that jerk? "Hello?" Monica said to me, waving her hand in front of my face. "Yeah..." I said, looking away from Josh. The bus stop, and two boys entered. One was Joe, his hair straight and black, and Nick, my boyfriend, his hair perfectly curled as usual. "Hey babe."
